The friends! Hands down, watching friends grow in skating each week. I’m at an age where I’m able to guide the younger skaters and it’s been the best feeling to see them as they reach milestones and goals they’ve set for themselves. I enjoy fundraising to help them pay for competition cost or even skates, helmets, or wheels.
The women in my family. I’m the 4th generation. My Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother have traveled all over the US with me, navigating me. Pushing me to never quit. As I balance completing High school in a dual enrollment program, obtaining an associates degree in Sports Nutrition, I am hoping to graduate at age 15. While attending and assisting practice 5 days a week. Traveling 3 hours to a rink once a week. It’s ups and downs, and they guide me to find balance and joy in the journey.
After 6 years of artistic, Coraline found speed skating. She jumped in! The lack of skating rinks/coaches in speed skating has made it challenging for her. In these first two years she has really had to outsource to achieve her goals. She has said hello and goodbye to 2 rinks, 3 different coaches within the sport. She has remained ready to train regardless. She has landed firm at a rink,Ashland Skateland and now has a team of coaches. She’s achieved Champion status in each region of the USA.
