One that stands out the most was during a basketball game I attended. Her team was losing, and I could see the disappointment on some of the players’ faces. But Aaliyah looked over at me with a smile and said, “Don’t worry, Grandma we got this next time." Teamwork makes the dream work. In that moment, I saw her leadership, her positive spirit, and her understanding of what it truly means to be part of a team. That’s the kind of athlete she is, and that’s what makes me so proud.
