Abel began Taekwondo at age 3. Now 10, he trains in Taekwondo, football, and track—building strength in mind, body, and spirit. Sports gave him the confidence to run for student council; next year, he’ll proudly serve as 5th grade rep. He even won 1st in a state poetry contest. Being an athlete goes beyond the mat, field, or track—it’s a mindset he brings to everything he does, every single day.
Abel is inspired by his dad, who grew up poor in Mexico without the chance to play sports. Though he never competed, his dad is athletic and constantly trains Abel, pushing him to be his best. His support and hard work motivate Abel to chase every goal with passion and grit.
At just 10 years old, Abel has always been the smallest among his competitors—but never the weakest. With relentless determination and heart, he rose above every challenge to win the state Taekwondo tournament. His size may be small, but his spirit, strength, and will to succeed are larger than life.
