What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

AJ loves being a part of a team where every kid has an individual role all with one goal - success. He loves the physical toughness of football & the mental toughness of baseball. He loves being a leader & pushing his teammates to not give up & keep going when they think they have nothing left to give. We were hit hard by Hurricane Helene & sports was the only normalcy he had for 6 months. His sports family rallied around him & helped him get through the toughest time.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

AJ looks to God for inspiration both on & off the field. He writes bible verse on his wrist tape to look at when he feels overwhelmed or is in tough situations. He looks up to Christian athletes; like Tim Tebow, Trea Turner and Puka Nacua. These athletes encourage him to push himself beyond his limits.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

AJ had been struggling at the plate & was in a slump. We told him when you find yourself struggling turn to God & He will always be there for you. Next game I look over & see him kneeling on his glove praying before the game. The following game he did the same & several team mates joined him. Seeing him be a leader for something bigger than the game was the biggest win.
