When riding horses she loves the companionship of Chief. She likes to get on the horse and block out everything else and ride. While swimming she loves the challenge of trying to swim faster then her last swim. The calmness she feels everytime she hits the water, just her the water, and time.
Olympians Katie Ledecky and Hali Flickinger. They both inspire her to work hard in and out of the pool. Hali is from our hometown. She thinks it is so cool that a girl like her can make it to the olympics. Also her horse trainer Sara Pifer, she has not only taught her how to ride, but patience, bravery, and to push her boundaries to get better. Last but not least the trusty steed Chief. She has learned to trust him fully. They make the perfect team.
The proudest moment I have for her is her first year of swimming. She joined the team for fun and because she loved the pool. She quickly fell in love with it and progressed quickly. By the end of her first year she qualified for All-Stars (league championships) in the 25 yd butterfly. She ended the season finishing 2nd place. Watching her swim it was a close race. After she walked off the deck she hugged her dad and I, then said "I'm going to get gold next time."
