Amelya takes pride in the challenges that arise with be a competitive athlete. Dancing is poetic and beautiful. When she is dancing with her team they become one! When dancing as a soloist she gets to tell her story and leave all her emotions on the stage. Racing lets her channel her alter ego, full of adrenaline and free! Sports give her a sense of clarity when she feels lost and confidence when she needs it most.
Amelya finds inspiration in her family. At 17 yrs old she is the youngest of 4 sisters that are all athletes and talented dancers. In 2022 one of her sisters was killed by a distracted driver. Living life for herself and her special angel has been the “driving” force in all she does. Her sister was supposed to start racing and was tragically taken before she could. Amelya got on the track and never looked back. The way she honors her sister is beautiful and warms the heart of those around her.
Amelya gives us plenty to be proud of but the moment that stands out was after being in a bad wreck, slammed into a wall. I thought it took her out of the race with a totaled car, being shaken up, emotionally and physically bruised. She worked with a full team to fix her car before the next heat. She was determined to get back out there and finish. Duck tape and all in her first race in that specific type of car she finished 4th. Her resilience & commitment left me speechless & terrified!
