What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She’s does soccer, basketball, volleyball, and dance. She’s the most humbled, gracious, kind hearted, funny kid that I know. The fight, the determination, will power, and strength that I see within her is what I believe why she loves playing sports. Amiah becoming The Youth Athlete of the Year would also help her start up her youth advocacy program called Your Not Finished Yet.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

When I was younger, one of my friends parents used to cheer her on. She was always right there right by her daughters side at any sport, dance, or music that she did. I told myself when I got older & I had my own child, that I would always be by there side cheering them on ,and being their biggest cheerleader. I was blessed to have a daughter like mine, and I will be by her side through it all. Although, I inspire my daughter during sports, she’s the one that really inspires me.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

There was a time that my daughter had made it to the Olympics in fifth grade. She had been picked on and bullied a lot that year. We as a family had experienced a lot that year. One of the contest was a race where you pass the baton. Before she had done this, she said mommy I just wanna win one thing. I looked at her and told her Baby Girl you will you just gotta believe in yourself. She did the race and she won and I cheered her on all the way through.
