What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Ana is extremely competitive and loves making the game into a real competition. At the same time she goes out of her way to make it fun for everyone including the other team. At this last weekends tournament, the catcher for the other team was upset after a close play. Ana went and gave her a hug and told her she was playing great to help her feel better. She absolutely lives for being a leader and a helper on and off the field

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Ana draws her inspiration from the players around her and our extended family who is at every game to cheer on her team. She has grown up with the stories of how much fun myself and my sister, her aunt, had playing softball. She is inspired to share that fun with everyone and make playing the sport about more than just winning. She has made lifelong friends and will continue to make them as she grows into her role

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Ana is always striving to be the best example on the field. Both in play and in sportsmanship. She has rallied her team after a loss with encouragement. And shown wonderful character to the lasting side when her team has won. We once played a team that had a player that had been on her team the year before. After the game where we won, she immediately went over to her friend on the other team and shared her trophy for pictures and hugs with her former teammate.
