Anaya loves the competitive edge. She likes to compete and get 1st place but even when she doesn’t she is inspired to do better. She is always striving to be better than she was last time she stepped on the field.
Being a bronze medal Junior Olympian she draws inspiration from a Gold medal Olympian Jackie Joyner Kersee because she never gave up when she didn’t win. The ‘grit that don’t quit’ attitude is something my child has and she saw that in Jackie Joyner Kersee when she didn’t win an essay on her at school. She is also inspired by her track coaches who were youth athletes and now are pushing her to her potential to be great on and off the field.
One moment in her athletic journey that makes her the proudest is when she qualified for the Junior Olympics and was able to become an ‘All American’ by getting 8th place in shot put. Earning the bronze was a building block to great achievement because it gave her the aspiration to keep going to reach the gold.
