Written by Anthony (Age 11) I love ice hockey because I was able to meet all of my best friends there. Ice hockey is a sport that pushes me to work to my best potential both on and off the ice. It is a sport that builds character and teaches me self discipline. It makes me want to improve every time I step on the ice.
My biggest inspiration is my dad. He was my first coach, and he always pushed me to give 100 percent in everything I do. My dad is the hardest working person I know. He sacrifices everything for our family, and for me to play hockey. Whenever I have practice or a game, I really want to make him proud by showing him how hard I am working, and how far I have come. I have had some incredible coaches, but im not so sure anyone can compare to my dad.
In my first year of 10U AA hockey, alot of people didnt believe in me. I was 8 when I made the team and I really had alot of work to do, but the coaches saw that I was determined to listen and work hard. When I went to Pittsburgh for a championship tournament, I scored a game winning goal off a faceoff! I did this because I listened to my coach and did exactly what he told me to do. I felt like I could do anything after that! It made me so proud and I even saved the stick I scored the goal with.
