She loves the challenge and being able to compete! She loves being able to see how her hard work and dedication pays off with each practice and game. She loves being a teammate and also a mentor to some of the younger or less experienced girls. She loves the sport of softball and has dreams of becoming a professional softball player.
Her daddy inspires her on and off the field. He motivates her and keeps her grounded and focused. She relies on him to encourage and inspire her to be better than the person she was yesterday. He inspires her to be a leader that others can look up to and rely on.
I was proudest when she pitched one of her best games, a no hitter, and instead of celebrating her own accomplishment and her team’s accomplishment. She stopped for a moment to congratulate the other teams pitcher on her hard fought battle and her efforts on the mound. She hugged her and told her that she did a good job. She showed not only compassion but the ability to set aside her own success to acknowledge someone else’s personal success and work ethic.
