What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Beau has an insatiable desire to COMPETE and win every battle on the ice, and this has helped propel him to be one of the leaders on his hockey team.  Beau also enjoys trying to make his teammates better by sharing the puck and doing all the little things to make the team stronger.  Being an intense, complete team player, Beau has helped drag other teammates into the fight during tough games.   This has led to a great deal of growth and success for his team:   Mid Fairfield 2017 Elite.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Beau's father, who is also his coach, has been an inspiration for him and a driving force for Beau to try to be his best self.   His father played hockey at the United States Military Academy at West Point and subsequently spent 5 years in the military, including 13 months in combat in Iraq.  He has endured the mental and physical scars since his time overseas, but even when he is almost incapacitated with pain, Beau's father never misses a practice, game, or whenever Beau asks to do more work.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

In a critical game at the end of the year Beau’s team came out very flat.  Down by 3 goals in the third period with 5 minutes left, the coach called a time out, looking for someone to step up.  Beau, in his next shift, blocked a shot with his hand and went down on a breakaway to score.   His linemate scored the next goal, and another teammate tied it up with 2 minutes left.   With only 45 seconds left, Beau scored the go-ahead goal, highlighting a group of young men who never stop competing.
