Receive Text UpdatesBentley says, “Because I just love it! It’s my favorite thing to do, it’s so much fun!” It’s clear that sports are a safe place for him to feel confident in himself and his abilities. Whether he’s on the field, the ice, or the track, he lights up in a way that shows just how much it means to him. Sports give Bentley the space to grow, to shine, and to truly be himself.
Bentley says his best friend’s older brother inspires him to play baseball. “He’s really good at the game and he lets me and my friend hang out with him and his friends and play baseball,” Bentley says. Watching someone older who’s skilled but also kind and inclusive has made a big impact on him. It motivates Bentley to keep practicing and reminds him how fun the game can be when shared with others.
My proudest moment was when Bentley won his first Player of the Game. He came off the field trying to hide his smile, but I could see how proud he was. Usually so quiet and reserved, he lit up in a way I rarely see. That moment showed how much the sport means to him — not just for fun, but as a place where he feels confident, proud, and free to be himself. Seeing him shine like that was everything.
