Join the CompetitionNot only has wrestling given her a sense of confidence, but she also enjoys the physical challenge, personal growth, and discipline. The wrestling world is a family, an unspoken community that rallies together and praises our female athletes in a male dominated sport.
The people that inspire Bianca the most are those kids who are unable to compete. Bianca has a heart for those who are disabled. When she played football, if she scored a touchdown, she always ran and touched the back line for those kids who couldn't play. She takes nothing for granted and is always trying to find ways to insert sports and fun for the disabled children at her school.
The moment I felt the proudest was when Bianca faced adversity and handled it like a champion. Bianca had played football for over 10 years, and in her freshman year of high school, a coach essentially told her that "girls don't play football." While we believe in not quitting something we start, as a parent, I couldn’t watch her be torn down every week, so I gave her the option to walk away from the team. She looked at me and said, "No, if I do that, I give him what he wants, and he wins."
