God first! Her family and friends. Coaches and volunteers. Something as small as the color of the jersey or uniform inspires her. Even though she's surrounded by loud cheers and an abundance of supporters, she knows at time, it's OK to be her own biggest cheerleader. It's the opportunity, community, experience and engagements that fills her with inspiration and the hunger to achieve. It's the "good job, way to block, that was a good run" and even all the "don't worry, you'll get'em next time."
Special Olympics and Community Connections are programs in our area that's dear to our hearts. She's been a Special Olympian for 6yrs now and continuing. She was one of four kids chosen (thanks to her school) to carry the Flame of Hope into the opening ceremonies this year, as well as, participate in the torch run through parts of our city. It's one of those moments that will never be forgotten, especially by her. This moment fueled her to set even bigger goals and dig deeper to reach them.
