For my children, playing their sports is about so much more than competition — it’s about freedom. Living with cystic fibrosis means there are many parts of life they can’t fully control, but when they’re on the field they feel strong, capable, and completely in the moment. Sports give them a space where they’re not defined by medical routines or limitations, but by their effort, skill, and heart.
My children are most inspired by people who show strength in the face of adversity, especially athletes and individuals who have overcome personal challenges to achieve greatness. But more than anyone, they draw inspiration from within our own family, particularly from those who have stood by them through their journey with cystic fibrosis. Seeing how much their support system believes in them has fueled their own belief that nothing, not even a lifelong health condition, can hold them back
They don’t take a single breath or opportunity for granted. They’ve not only improved athletically, helping their teams reach new heights, but they have also been a source of hope for others facing chronic illness. Whether volunteering with younger athletes or sharing Allec's story to raise awareness about cystic fibrosis, they lead with heart and courage.
