Receive Text UpdatesShe loves the water. It’s like therapy to her. She loves challenging herself every day. As a 13 year old, she is so self motivated to improve, that she creates her own practices and we will take her to the YMCA to do her workout if she misses a day with the team. That only happens when she’s trying to balance other sports as well. She makes adjustments, fine tunes her strokes, and celebrates the successes. She is one of the most coachable kids. She is always looking for feedback to improve.
She’s a huge Katie Ledecky fan. We had the opportunity to watch the Olympic swim trials in Indianapolis last year, which was incredible. Since then, she has been determined to make it to the Olympic time trials in her lifetime. She loves the ‘hard work pays off’ stories and finds inspiration in success after failures.
Her work ethic makes us proud every single day. She is so dedicated to swim, and to her team. The very best was watching her achieve an Illinois zones time this season. She missed the qualifying time by milliseconds at multiple meets. Instead of letting it discourage her, she got back to work, and finally reached her goal. I’ll never forget that smile.
