Receive Text UpdatesCam saw her first competitive cheer broadcast at age 6, and that was all it took. Her family started noticing that she would try to copy the tumbles and dances in videos that she watched. A year later, Cam begged to start tumble and cheer lessons. At age 8, she tried out for the nearest competitive team. Cam made the highest division, consisting of mostly junior high and high school age athletes. Cam loves that her sport is competitive, teaches teamwork, and how precision is highly important.
Cam is inspired by her family, especially her grandparents. When Cam wanted to start training, she went straight to them for guidance. Being a child of a single mom and having two young siblings put their family in financial limitations. Cam knew her grandparents would do whatever it took to get her the athletic training she wanted. They help with taking Cam to her practices and competitions, and cheer from the audience with her mom and two brothers.
“Seeing Cam take a tumble at a competition while performing a back handspring. She got up from her knees and pushed through that performance, not missing a beat. No tears, it was complete determination. After the performance, Cam voiced that she needed to train more. She could have given up from being embarrassed, but that is not Cam.” - grandmother
