You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
When I was eight years old, I decided to try out for baseball not knowing how much I would love this sport. Baseball has increased my physical fitness and has helped me come out of my shyness. It has taught me the importance of being a team player and I have learned that if you miss a ball, it's not the end of the world. Even MLB players strike out from time to time.
My teammates that I have gone through middle school with and now high school with are the people who inspire me. My teammates parents have always told me what an excellent centerfielder I am, and I have learned to accept those words with pride.
I have grown so much since I started this sport when I was out and my proudest moment, and also my siblings and Mom's, was when I hit my first triple when I was on the 12U team. Last year was my Freshmans year at Washington High School and I was placed in a position I have never played and was very nervous. To quote the coaches, my teammates, and other parents: "Cameron is a beast in centerfield". "He never misses that ball".
