What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Carver loves learning from sports and tapping into those skills in his everyday life (eg. work ethic and dedication). He also loves the feeling he gets when he exceeds his own expectations and when he see’s the results from hard work paying off. Carver always seeks to be the best version of himself inside and outside of sport. He always looks to learn from and appreciate the feedback he gets from others. He believes that competition has more depth to it than the trophy lift or medal ceremony.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Carver is inspired by Usain Bolt and his incredible representation of a generational talent who never stopped pursuing his goals no matter what. In addition, Cristiano Ronaldo because he is a living symbol of someone who truly loves their craft and does not let age define his limits. And of course Kobe Bryant who is the spitting image of hard work and maximum focus/effort no matter the situation, no matter the level of play, all in the pursuit of greatness.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

At the 2023 ASAA XC Provincials, Carver came in with qualifying times much slower than his competitors as he does not belong to a running club. He trained as much as he could while balancing three other sports and school. He ended up finishing 1st! We were so proud to watch him put aside his doubt and run his own race. In addition, in his team sports, Carver is a natural & respectful leader on and off the court or pitch - earning him Athlete of the Year every year at his school.
