What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She’s always been competitive, achieved her black belt in karate and went straight to the wrestling mats. She has always wanted to leave her mark, and she’s almost single handedly growing girls wrestling at her school

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Celia’s dad has been a lifelong athlete, and she has always aspired to make him proud. Her older brother was an amateur boxer and had been highly successful in his career path as well. Her mother and father are her inspiration.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Celia is driven - she’s always been small so she has always been underestimated by people, which only drives her more. Her very first wrestling meet was humbling, as she dropped her first 2 matches. But she came off the mat more determined than ever, and in her 3rd match, she remembered her training and took her determination out on her opponent - pinning a state qualifier.
