He has a passion for the game of baseball. Not only the physical attributes, but the mental game. As a pitcher, he loves to mentally assess the situation and adjust based on the batter he is facing. He doesn’t rely on velocity alone, but embraces his off speed pitches and sub/side arm slot, combined with thinking his way through his pitching sequence. This combination is what fuels his desire to compete.
He is inspired by his father who has coached him since little league and continues to help him develop on and off the field. They watch post game footage together to analyze form and mental aptitude. They hit the bull pen together and attend lessons as a team. He is inspired by himself as he strives to be the best version of himself despite a juvenile arthritis diagnosis and elbow reconstruction that caused developmental set backs. . He is determined to make his dreams a reality.
It’s hard to select one particular moment, as there have been many inspirational moments throughout his journey. This past season I was the most proud when he achieved his 100th high school career strikeout. I was also quite proud this summer when a college coach offered him a roster spot to pitch for their team stating that they thought he’d make a great addition not only for his pitching, but for his positive attitude, commitment, and encouragement as a teammate.
