Thank you for generously supporting Charlie in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
There are two things Charlie loves the most about playing hockey and specifically goalie. To start he loves that it is fun. He loves to make sure he and his teammates enjoy their time on the ice whether it be through something silly on the ice or hanging out afterward. Secondly, the hockey family is second to none whether it is support from coaches or the relationships developed with teammates and families.
While Charlie’s favorite player often changes, it is not the NHLers that he draws inspiration from. He looks very close to home at his personal goalie coaches. Not only have they believed in and worked with him on the physical game of hockey but they have stuck with him to develop his mental toughness too. He has so much respect for what they have done personally and how they have used their experiences to help mold him into the goalie he is today.
Charlie’s career as a goalie started late. After multiple years as a skater, his team needed a goalie. He stepped up and never looked back. He was behind the curve with training but committed to his position. He tried for multiple years to make it to the next level but was denied. He quietly kept working and seeking opportunities to be his best. It was a very proud moment when he finally made it to the next level and began to understand that dedication and hard work do really pay off.
