Receive Text UpdatesColton said he loves getting better at hockey. Every time he gets on the ice, whether it is for practice, skills, or a game, it is another opportunity for him to improve. Seeing the progress he has made, especially over the past 2 seasons has been both motivating and rewarding for him.
Colton has a mentor he has been working with for the past 18 months, Tyler. Tyler, who founded his own mentoring program while in college, and was drafted into the NHL this year, has inspired Colton by showing him hard work pays off. He has been a great inspiration on Colton’s work ethic and nutrition habits. Colton’s parents also inspire him by always supporting him and by advocating for him and being his biggest cheerleaders!
The moment I am proudest of is the first time Colton stepped out onto the ice to learn how to skate. Colton was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when he was 4 years old. During flares, his joint pain was so bad, he couldn’t walk, so getting out there to learn how to ice skate was a huge milestone for him. He’s now on the ice for several hours every week and watching him skate is truly one of my greatest joys in life.
