Corey loves taking in what the coaches tell him and striving to improve. He practices everyday for football and track, never taking a break. He loves helping his teammates. Corey has a strong sportsmanship with helping his teammates when they are doing well and when they are struggling. He picks them up when they are down and congratulates every win. Corey loves his team whether it’s for school gym, track, or football. Corey loves the competitiveness even when it’s not fun.
As a kid a Corey struggled with what sport he fit into. One day his Papa threw him a football. Out of 7 grandkids not a single kid wanted to play football. Papa was so excited to see a grandkid show interest in a sport he had coached for many years. As Corey continued to focus on football, he studied all the plays of famous players, focused on finding the right team for him, and conditioning. Every time Corey walked on the football field he saw his papa on the sidelines with a smile on his face.
Corey was in regular season, all stars, and indoor football for 10 months straight. Corey runs a 5.1 sec 40 yd dash. At a game he was playing cornerback he was jamming the receiver. The ball was thrown to receiver. Corey intercepted the ball at the 10 yard line and ran 90 yards down the sideline to score a touchdown to secure a spot in the championship. This critical moment provided him and his teammates with the confidence he needed, in that moment he knew he had earned his spot on his team.
