What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

It gives him purpose and he enjoys being challenged and staying fit. He’s met many friends and coaches along the way. He loves being out on the ice or field and in the zone. Damien is a natural in many sports; with Hockey and Softball being his dominant sports. From the age of 4 years old, he has been actively involved in organized sports. He has made lasting friendships, all his teammates are important to him.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Damien is inspired by many NHL players. He follows stats and keeps up with training, & always looking at how to better improve his skills. Being inspired by a past coaches Matt and Dave Tucker. Damien is a young man who values relationships, once he gets to know you. You are a friend for life. He has recently lost his grandfather who he looked up too. Damien often talks about his grandfather and how he supported him through some tough times, with the encouragement to be a better person each day.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Damien is a joy to watch. One highlight is this past winter he scored the winning goal in a come back game in the Yukon tournament. They had just gone into overtime and in the first few seconds, off he went and scored. The rink went wild. That was one amazing game. He talks about the team work and dynamics of the team and how proud everyone was in that moment. We are proud of all Damien's accomplishments.
