Darontaye is a big kid. He usually towers over his classmates and often times when playing with smaller children sometimes he unintentionally hurts them just by playing like a normal kid. Football allows him to not have to size himself down to fit in with the crowd. It allows him to physical with his ability and he gets a chance to play amongst boys who are just as big and tall as he is.
He is a huge Odell Beckham Jr and Tyreek Hill fan. He believes their abilities on the field comes from practicing hard in before they became famous and not letting anyone tell them they can't do it.
My proudest moment during Tj's athletic journey is watching him overcome obstacles for instance, he would have a full meltdown every practice when it was time to do bear crawls. He would be the last player on the field trying to make it to the finish line. Though he was upset he wouldn't give up. Finally after a lot of hard work and persistence he got it! He wasn't the last kid and he didn't cry. He looked back at me with this huge smile so proud that he had accomplished this goal.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
