Darwin loves the competition and the challenge that comes with baseball, it keeps him motivated to grow and learn. He loves to see his progress day after day, and seeing how the investment of his hard work evolves his game.
Darwin draws strength and inspiration from many great people around him, from his family, to his coaches, to the great players he watches each day on TV. His all time favorites player is Fernando Tatis Jr because of his versatility and incredible athleticism, he also loves that he can see himself in him because they share the same culture. He loves Tatis Jr’s spirit and passion for the game and his confidence.
I am the most proud of how Darwin has developed into a strong leader within his team. In one particular tough game, Darwin saw his teammates were struggling to keep their energy and optimism up, and took it upon himself to begin speaking words of affirmation and encouragement to his pitcher and then to the entire team. In a moment where he could have given in to the same frustration, he decided to be the catalyst for a turn in energy, and very quickly the team was able to rally and take a W.
