Receive Text UpdatesDestini loves how it makes her feel strong, free, and focused. When she is practicing or competing it takes her to a place in her innermost where it’s just her and the skills, nothing else matters in that moment.
She is inspired by people who push through fear and failure. Last season she was aiming to win her 3rd state championship, this time as a level 7 (previously she won state at Level 5&6). She had a bad vault and fractured her kneecap. She trained/rehabbed and is back on vault like nothing happened. Simone Biles was a beacon for Destini because of her courage and honesty and that helped her push through. She was reminded that strength isn’t just about skill, it’s about heart.
One moment that makes us proudest is the first time she nailed a skill that she was scared of for weeks. For us it’s not as much about the wins but more so about how our children process and overcome adversity. It wasn’t just about the skill, but proving to herself that she could trust that her body was capable and that she had the correct mindset.
