My teenage athlete loves the adrenaline, the challenge, and the team spirit that comes with playing soccer and football. Competing pushes him to grow mentally and physically, and he thrives on the discipline and drive it takes to improve. Most of all, he loves the bond with his teammates and the pride of working hard toward a shared goal.
My teenage athlete is inspired by his 6-month-old baby brother Alexander, who he waited 14 years for. He loves him deeply and wants to be someone his little brother can always look up to. Every time he steps on the field, he plays with heart—knowing those little eyes are watching. His brother gives him purpose, reminds him to never give up, and inspires him to be strong, kind, and driven in everything he does.
One moment that made me proudest was seeing him embrace the brotherhood sports teaches. He learned it’s not just about winning, but lifting each other up—picking up a teammate when they’re down, playing as one, and never succeeding at someone else’s expense. Watching him grow into a leader who values unity, heart, and teamwork over glory has been one of the most meaningful parts of his journey.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
