EJ is really inspired by Amen Thompson because he is locked in physically and mentally and mental toughness is something EJ has been personally working on. He loves that their game play style is similar and learns a lot from watching him
So many moments come to mind like taking 3rd in district in triple jump for a brand new or his first hat trick; but all that pales in comparison to seeing him grow mentally over time. He spends a lot of time thinking about his impact on the game and others, how he can challenge himself, how he can master his emotions and not wrap his self worth up in performance and to not let all the accolades outshine his character. He’s my athlete of the year every year
