He's been on the field with three of his teammates since they were just five years old. Now with a core group of seven kids who've played together for years, they have become more than teammates-they've become family. From practices to weekend hangouts, they've built a bond that runs deep. Football has taught EJ how to be dependable, hot to encourage and support his friends and how to push himself. And through it all, he's had fun playing a sport they all love, together.
Cedric Baker Boney is more than just a coach, he is a mentor & a motivator. A former college football player, Cedric has built his life around empowering the next generation of athletes. We first met Cedric when we were trying to teach EJ the proper way to run-and we quickly realized we were gaining more than just a trainer. While Cedric is teaching EJ the fundamentals of football, he's also pouring into him valuable life lessons-connecting discipline on the field to character off the field.
In the Flag Football National Championship Tournament at IMG Academy this July, the Wilmington Chargers were seeded 14th and faced the 3rd seed Patriots from Texas. Every yard was earned and the competition was fierce. But in the middle of that intensity, EJ rose to the moment. He started making clutch catches that moved the chains. EJ wasn't just playing...he was dominating. And when it mattered most, he sealed the game with a winning touchdown.
