Emma’s favorite part of every sport is the teamwork, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Many of her closest friends come from her teams, making sports an essential part of her social life. She loves playing multiple sports because it keeps her mind and body strong, while the crossover skills make her a more versatile and driven athlete. Rarely without a stick, glove, or gear in hand, Emma lives and breathes sports—it’s her true passion.
Emma draws inspiration from many sources: her favorite ringette goalie, Keely Brown; the fearless drivers of the F1 Academy; her mum, who is bravely battling breast cancer; and her teammates and friends. Some inspire her with pure skill, while others motivate her through their resilience—their ability to stay positive, find silver linings, and turn every challenge into an opportunity to learn, grow, and improve.
In her U12A provincial ringette gold medal game, after dominating the tournament, Emma made an uncharacteristic mistake—allowing the tying goal with less than 40 seconds left. The game went into overtime. Under immense pressure, she shook off the setback, delivered incredible saves, and helped secure the championship for her team. Her grit, determination, and mental toughness in that moment were nothing short of awe-inspiring, especially for such a young athlete.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
