What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

At 7 years old, he loves developing different skills - playing a new position, batting, fielding, etc. Each season he looks forward to a new team and maybe a new coach. He makes more friends and can learn something new each season. He has recently loved getting to know the rules of baseball for each level of playing.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Being a baseball player and currently playing 1st base - he loves to watch Matt Olson play for the Braves and Charlie Condon (Rockies organization). In our current recreation league he enjoys watching the minor and major leagues practice to see what they are learning. He has several older boys at our park he will ask questions and want to watch play.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

This summer was Eric’s first season in All Stars for our recreation league. He had only played 2 seasons prior and we thought we had actually gotten him started late, considering some boys his age had been playing since they were 3 years old. Our first tournament comes and he was nervous. With the help of his current coach teaching him true fundamentals with batting - he was able to hit an out of the park home run on a 120’ field. It was an amazing moment to watch him enjoy.
