What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Ethan loves seeing how much he’s improved over the years. Being able to do things on the court now that he couldn't do before keeps him motivated to keep learning and trying new techniques. He also enjoys the chance to meet and play with — and against — people he might never have connected with otherwise. It gives him the opportunity to learn from other skilled players and grow even more.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Ethan is inspired by his dad, Jerry Cineas, and his coaches. They’ve all invested so much in him — not just as a basketball player, but as a person. They encourage him to dream big while also teaching him the importance of discipline and hard work, both on and off the court. Their belief in his potential helps Ethan believe in himself and motivates him to grow into the best student-athlete he can be.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments has been watching Ethan embrace learning and growth in the game. Early on, it was hard to get through to him, but over time, he became more open and curious about how he could improve. Once he started applying the tools and techniques he was given, his progress took off. What makes me most proud is seeing how coachable he’s become — he listens, adapts, and stays focused. Watching him play at a high level in recent games, regardless of winning or losing, is admirable!
