Receive Text UpdatesHe really loves baseball because of the teamwork and leadership aspects. It's more than just a game to him; it's about collaborating with others and supporting each other. He says being part of the team every day makes it feel like a family, which makes everything more meaningful for him. It's the combination of competition and that sense of camaraderie that makes baseball so special to him.
The person who inspires Evan most on and off the field is his former teammate and great friend, Brian Schumacher. Brian was an outstanding leader in many ways. As Kingwood’s center fielder, he guided Evan in the outfield, especially when Evan had to step into a new position during the third round of playoffs. His influence extended beyond baseball, offering support in life. Evan admires and tries to emulate the qualities that made Brian a respected role model.
He played LF for the Kingwood team that won the Texas 6AD2 State Championship. I am so proud of 2 moments during the game. During the middle of the 7th inning, they were getting ready to field and I looked out and he was holding his ball cap and had his head bowed in prayer! The other was right after they won. CF caught the game winning out. All the players started to dog pile at the mound. Evan stopped on his way in from LF to pick up the guy from the other team who was crying at 2nd base.
