My son thrives on competition. He loves pushing himself, leading by example, and growing through every challenge. But what he values just as much is sportsmanship—respecting opponents, learning from losses, and winning with humility. It’s shaped him into a strong competitor and a better person.
His father inspires him most—on and off the field. He’s seen his dad lead with strength, stay calm under pressure, and always show respect, no matter the outcome. That example of hard work, integrity, and quiet leadership drives him to be better every day.
One of my proudest moments was during a hard-fought semi-final basketball game. My son, the team captain, played his heart out and led the team with courage. They lost by just 3 points after a teammate’s final shot rimmed out. Instead of showing frustration, he went straight to the other team’s huddle, congratulated them, and shook their hands. That display of leadership and sportsmanship made me prouder than any victory ever could.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
