You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
Gavin absolutely loves the game itself. Having autism makes him extremely hyper focused during games no matter how big or small the game is. He plays exactly the same way. (Don’t let anybody tell you, you can’t do something)! His BA in regionals was a .500, and he batted a .354 during the season. When he doesn’t have practice or a game, he’s at hitting practicing or catching practice. During his downtime he’s playing MLB The Show 25, or he’s watching his Miami Marlins. He doesn’t miss a game
His inspiration is drawn from his parents, family and Coaches. Most of all his twin brother Bryce who also plays on the same high school and summer ball team, and is a very good RHP. Bryce is no doubt Gavin‘s biggest fan. As both go into their senior year, wanting to pursue an opportunity to be a student/athlete in college.
What makes us the proudest as parents is just seeing them on the field. Both of them were born at 28 weeks and weighed only 1lbs 14 oz. With Gavin having the majority of the issues with 14 surgeries. Watching him and his brother play the game they love, and to be very successful. There is absolutely no better feeling. Going from being uncertain if they would make it, to watching them perform on the field is absolutely mind-boggling. Their Mom and I just sit and smile for 7 innings.
