Two uncles and father were all Division 1 athletes. Her grandfather was also a college athlete. Their pride and support make her look up to them. Her one uncle is general manager in the NFL and his drive and work ethic (and his speed) motivate her to do great things. It inspires her that small town kids can do bog things on the world, Her track mentor Carly who is running at PSU. Gigi's dream is to run at a big school.
She gave up competitive soccer to train full time - really leaving part of her identity (she played for 12 years. She created and consulted to craft a year round training program. She was against her biggest competition and fell at the last hurdle. She got up and completed her rave in second place (even after a fall). Students made hurtful memes of her fall and shared them with the school - this fueled her to become stronger and faster and learn adversity and perseverance.
