Given loves sports because it’s fun and brings him a lot of enjoyment! Playing sports has been the perfect outlet to express his creativity and energy. He is also capable of being a leader and meeting new friends that teaches him how to be apart of a team.
After having a conversation with Given, he shared that the two people who inspire him most are his mother and his heavenly Goddad, Joshua Owusu, whom we sadly lost a few years ago. Joshua was more than a friend—he was a devoted family member and an all-around incredible person to be around. Athletic, full of life, and deeply in love with Jesus Christ, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. I’m truly honored that such a wise and loving spirit was chosen to help guide Given.
One moment that makes me especially proud is seeing Given’s resilience in any situation. He is truly one of the strongest little boys I know. Becoming a mother at a young age, one of the first things I noticed about him was his natural ability to speak up for himself and to figure things out on his own without always being told. He has always been eager to grow, to learn, and to rise to any challenge—and that kind of mindset will take him far in life.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
