What I love most about wrestling is that it keeps me fit, strong, and healthy. It gives me hope for the future and a sense of purpose. Every time I pin someone in a match, I feel a rush of accomplishment—it reminds me of the hard work I’ve put in and how far I’ve come.
My uncle Lowell is a former wrestler and inspires me because I’ve always looked up to his strength and wanted to be like him. Coach Kinslow also made a big difference in my life—especially during one tough match when I told him my opponent was too strong. He looked me in the eye and said, 'Yes, you can—skill over strength.' His words fired me up. I got back in with 30 seconds left and pinned my opponent with 7 seconds to spare. That moment stuck with me and keeps pushing me forward.
One of my proudest moments was when Gregory faced a taller, stronger opponent who, out of frustration, smacked him during the match. Gregory stayed calm and composed, showing true sportsmanship. A parent from the opposing team asked if he was my son and praised his character. In the end, Gregory pinned his opponent—not just with strength and skill, but with dignity and grace.
