From Haleigh Shay "I love that I get to make new friends. I get to help my friends learn new things and cheer them on when they get a new skill. I love being able to do hard things like fly. It is scary sometimes, being up so high in the air, but it is exciting doing something hard. I love being able to tumble. I always wanted to do flips like other girls in gymnastics and cheer so I started working hard and listening to my coaches so I could learn all of my tumble skills this year.

At the start of this season of cheer, she was offered a position on 2 different teams. One team was an elite team (2 divisions higher than before), but it was a level 1 team (she has all level 1 skills); the 2nd team was an older team that was a division higher than she competed last year and would allow her to work more skills. She had to choose a team. She maturely decided to stay on a level 1 team and compete at more advanced level of competition than being with her friends on an older team.
