You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
Haley first and foremost loves that basketball distracts her from everything else. She tends to overthink things and worry too much, but when she plays basketball all of that goes away. Second, she loves the competition. Haley in a strange way can make friends while she is trying to win. She gives everything she’s got to the game, but right after the game she forgets about it and wants to hang out with friends. She plays and competes for the right reasons!
On a personal level, a girl named Deanna Hunter, someone Haley played with, inspires her. Deanna was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago and is unable to play currently, so Haley works hard to try to honor Deanna because she knows how hard Deanna has to work each day just to battle cancer. As for basketball, Caitlin Clark is probably the player she most wants to be like.
Haley makes me proud all the time just because she is a kind kid with a big heart who is nice to everyone. Within athletics, I am most proud of the fact that Haley has decided to trust the process. She puts in the work all week, doesn't make excuses, and the results are starting to show. She is extremely coachable in the sense that she takes feedback to heart and will really try to improve her weaknesses. She is now on the radar of several colleges because of her hard work.
