What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Jaydyn thrives on the competitive spirit of soccer and the opportunity for growth and development. Beyond that, she values the connections she forms with her teammates and other players. Playing on three different teams (high school, travel, and state) she has built friendships across both our district and the state. Competing alongside and against friends and teammates makes the game even more enjoyable for her, and some of her closest friendships have been forged through soccer.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Naomi Girma is her greatest inspiration on the field due to her composure in high-pressure situations. Her demeanor is calm and focused, no matter the challenge. Aside from her technical abilities, she is a positive and responsible teammate, always leading by example. Defenders are often not in the spotlight, but her talent has earned her widespread recognition, and yet she remains humble and unfazed by the pressure. Jaydyn admires how she stays grounded while performing at the highest level.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Being named second team all-district made us extremely proud of Jaydyn, for several reasons. She was one of only two on her high school team to receive all-district honors. She played hard in every game, even though her team struggled during this rebuilding year. Jaydyn also showed tremendous leadership. Her team, including the upper classmen, looked to their freshman center back for direction, knowing they could trust her instructions and her ability to cover them defensively.
