My daughter loves to challenge herself. When she cannot do something, she doesn't give up; she keeps going until she exceeds her expectations. Sports is who she is. Sports make her feel confident, strong, and allow her to be a part of something bigger than herself. She loves the excitement of the game and the joy of being a part of a team and making new friends. Sports is what she loves to do, and she has so much fun doing it.
Her stepdad inspires her both on and off the field. He shared her love of sports and always encouraged her to play with heart, hustle, and joy. Even though he is no longer with us, she carries his passion and spirit with her every time she steps onto the mat/field/court. She strives to make him proud as she knows he always watching over her from the best seat in the house.
This past year, my daughter placed 6th in a gymnastics competition. She was so upset and in tears. I remember pulling her aside and telling her, "It's okay, your next competition is in one month, and you are going to work harder and stronger than ever before. And by this time next month, you will be bringing home first place." Well, my daughter did just that. At her next competition, she brought home the first-place medal. Her hardwork dedication and willingness to keep going makes me so proud.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
