He loves that these sports allow him to improve himself not only physically, by gaining speed and strength, but also mentally, by pushing himself to attend practice, stay committed, and learn new plays and techniques. He also loves how they give him the opportunity to build bonds with the people he goes to school with and see every day. Forming these connections allows him to have a positive influence on them, which, in turn, helps him make a meaningful impact on his entire school.
My father and coach, Jai Le, has inspired me most both on and off the field. He has been a constant presence in my life, and ever since I began playing football, baseball, and wrestling as a child, he has always been my coach. As a 20-year Marine veteran, he has taught me the values of leadership by encouraging me to push himself through any challenge and to never put my own needs before the team. Being raised with these values has helped me succeed not only in sports but in life.
There isn’t a single defining moment it’s the journey that matters most. He’s been recognized for his leadership, work ethic, discipline and calm demeanor in the face of adversity. These qualities led to several accomplishments last year, such as earning varsity letters in three sports as a sophomore at a Division I school. He’s achieved these not just through talent, but through hard work and dedication. All while, being a man of God, a straight-A student, an active club member in my school.
