Thank you for generously supporting Julie in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
Julie loves baton twirling because every time she steps on the floor to preform it’s just her and her baton in her happy place. How strong and courageous she feels when she is twirling. Not to mention the friendships formed, sharing the wins and the tears, the funny moments. The excitement when a teammate makes it to finals or wins a special place… the joy of sharing that passion with others is rewarding and indescribable.
The person who inspires Julie the most on and off the competition floor is her mom. From love and support to a shoulder to cry on, Julie’s mom is always there to help Julie succeed. Mama Liz has strength, determination, strict discipline when needed but mostly a lot of love for what she holds dear to her heart. Julie takes this example of humanity, love, compassion, professionalism, and applies it to the sport of baton twirling. Julie is forever great full for her.
A bit over a year ago, Julie was not at the needed level, both skill & mental wise, to be on the advanced teams with her teammates. That summer she worked day and night to improve all on her own. Watched videos, practice in the kitchen, living room and anywhere she could. By the time the next season started, Julie proved she belongs on the advanced teams. Rather than whining about being held back, Julie persevered and succeeded. Her determination and drive makes her family so proud.
