Kaitlin is 13, Team Captain, All-State, All-American, bats 74-79mph, throws down in 1.8s, & yet prays for both teams before games, 4.0gpa.

She says, “I love that softball is a team sport. When I’m out on the field with all of my teammates or we’re cheering each other on at bat from the dugout, it is literally the best feeling in the world! We are family, we have each other’s backs, and we depend on each other! There is nothing we can’t achieve or overcome together! One of us may be having a bad day, but we lift her up and succeed as a team!”
My biggest inspiration is my Catching Coach Brittany Duncan-Houghland. She’s amazing at catching & teaching defense, but she’s also awesome at hitting. She spends her time coaching girls of all ages - 22+ year-olds down to the littlest 8-year old players, & she builds skill & confidence in them all! We all are better players, but we’re also better people- because of Coach Brittany Duncan-Houghland!!! I’m also inspired by Home Run Hitting Queen Jocelyn Alo for her life story & coaching.
We’re proudest of the 1st time she threw down to 2nd Base from Home got the Runner out. It gave her huge confidence to see that she can do something really hard. She’s since built on that to a D1 college-level-speed by age 12. It’s 1 thing to know you’re capable of something in your heart but to actually see that you can accomplish it, & all the people around you can see it, is a very powerful thing. That 1st Caught-Steal said to her that this is real, this is happening, & she can do anything!!!
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
