What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Kaiys loves the sense of connection basketball brings. Whether it’s building friendships with teammates, learning from his coaches, or sharing the highs and lows of the season, he truly thrives in the team environment. He values the trust, support and camaraderie that come from working for a common goal. The relationships he has built through basketball have taught him about respect, communication and resilience - lessons that can be used in his daily life.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Kaiys is inspired by LeBron James - not just for his incredible talent and work ethic on the court, but for the way he leads by example off it. He looks up to LeBron’s commitment to his team, his leadership and the way he constantly pushes himself to be better. What inspired him even more is how LeBron uses his platform to give back by supporting youth and being a role model for young athletes. He sees in LeBron someone who he hopes to embody as both a player and a person.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the proudest moments I witnessed as his mother wasn’t about him scoring the most points or making the winning play - it is the times he chooses to pass the ball to teammates who rarely get the chance to shine. In games where he could easily take the shot himself, he sees opportunities to lift someone else up. These moments show me the kind of athlete and person he truly is. He is always thinking about the team first, making sure everyone feels included, no matter their skill level.
