“With basketball, I feel like even though I risk missing shots or turnovers I still try my best. I make it a point not to only encourage myself to keep going but my teammates also. Ultimately I think I love the feeling of being courageous and the teamwork involved in playing the game.”
“My parents inspire and push me the most. My dad pushes me and critiques everything he can while my mom helps me understand it in a more positive way. I know my parents just want me to be as successful as possible and see me reach my full potential. Seeing them work so hard for me and my siblings makes it hard to not be inspired. They are so passionate about us and the sport I know even though we struggle sometimes I am very blessed to have supportive experienced parents pushing me.”
I’m proud of her entire journey starting to learn the basics at just 5 years old showing tremendous natural athleticism and talent. One moment though would be when she was playing in a boys and girls club league at 7 years old. We’re very competitive but that league/age was more fun and less competitive. She got so worked up wanting to play the real game to her full potential, but she learned pushing teammates was hard to do to try to encourage them and not hurt feelings. She humbled herself.
